Offensive Player of the Week
Nick Rhoads, Senior, Running Back
Landon School
Rhoads carried the ball 25 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears improved to 2-0 in IAC play. Coming into the game, all the attention was on the running game of St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes. “My coaches explained that it was between me and [Isaiah Carpenter] for the IAC’s [top] running back, so I was really psyched up to do well in this game. I felt like I did so.”
Defensive Player of the Week
Cory Boatman, Senior, Defensive Line
Good Counsel High School
Although Boatman was only credited with six tackles and 1.5 sacks, he was all over the field on Friday night. Boatman created all sorts of chaos in the Gonzaga backfield and was instrumental in holding Gonzaga to less than 50 yards passing.
Team of the Week
Dunbar High School (7-2, 3-0)
The Crimson Tide won their sixth straight game with a 12-7 victory over Coolidge that all but sealed up the DCIAA West division title. Dunbar played a tough schedule early on but they have gotten hot at the right time. Congratulations to Coach Craig Jeffries and the entire Dunbar football program.
The following poll is based on the top 10 teams in the WCAC, IAC and all D.C. Public Schools. It will be updated every week.
