Final Private School Basketball Rankings and Playoff Recap Girls

Another season is (almost) done and what a season it has been.  League tourneys and title games have been won and in a couple cases, perfection was sealed.  We'll be highlighting our DCSportsFan player, team and coach awards a bit later, but here is our playoff recap (save the DC City Championship now scheduled March 20) and final private school rankings for 2012.  As always, make sure to VIEW OUR SLIDESHOW by clicking the link nearby.

Best Postseason Performance: Faith Randolph, Good Counsel vs. St. John's (WCAC Championship).  Senior leader stepped up once again when it counted with 25 points and three 3-point baskets in yet another classic WCAC Championship between these two powerhouse programs.

Best Postseason Game:  St. Mary's Ryken vs. Paul VI Catholic (WCAC Quarters).  Hard to pick against the WCAC Championship game for sheer excitement and style but this was also the third installment of a classic series between two evenly-matched teams.  Both look to be improving programs heading into next season, though Ryken will lose top scorer Katie McCormick.

Most Impressive Postseason Comeback:  National Cathedral over St. Stephen's / St. Agnes (ISL-A Championship).  National Cathedral wasn't favored and started three freshmen -- yet still found a way to come back and top the regular-season ISL-A Champs.

Biggest Surprise: Flint Hill over Bullis (ISL-AA Semis).  Bullis is taller, deeper and had won both match-ups during the regular season.  Didn't matter.

Most Underrated Performance:  Libby Mosko, Georgetown Visitation (ISL-AA Championship).  As our Brian Kapur mentioned in his coverage, Mosko was the "glue" inside that kept Visi in the game and Flint Hill off the boards.  No way the Cubs win this tourney title without her.
