The five-year history of the Old Line has been marked by dominance. Most notably, one or at most two teams have gone through the regular season with little trouble and end up meeting in the Conference finals. However, this year is the first in which three of the six teams in the Conference can all make a strong case for the Conference Championship.
The Avalon Black Knights enters the Conference tournament as the Runner-up in every single Conference final and looks to break that streak by breaking through with their first OLBC Championship. As the third overall seed in tournament, the Black Knights will face off with the winless Spencerville Adventist Hornets with the winner advancing to play the Gaels of St. Maria Goretti High School.
Goretti from Hagerstown enters the Conference tournament as the second seed in only their second season in the Conference. The Gaels finished the Conference season at 7-3 only getting outplayed once.
The Heights enters the tournament with the number one overall seed and as the defending Conference Champions. The Cavaliers finished up the Conference regular season with a perfect 10-0 record outscoring the Conference opposition by 97 runs.
This year’s Old Line Tournament should be one of the most competitive yet as these three teams and possibly a surprise team could step up to challenge for a Conference Championship.
