Santonio Holmes and the New York Jets

Now that the Tebow hype has died down the New Yorkers, in good form, are on to the next thing. This time it’s wide receiver Santonio Holmes. There has been much talk and stipulation as to how Holmes has been performing/acting during practices. I think, just like in any case, it’s hard for us to judge a situation without being witness to it. All this “talk” right now is just hearsay.

So what is everyone talking about? Well as in most instances it’s the same old thing. After Santonio Holmes was said to have “quit on the team” last season all eyes have been on him, reading into his every move.  It’s been said that he is not keeping up in practice and people want to know why. When asked to speak to the media, Holmes has denied. Do you honestly blame him? A spotlight has been put on him for what reason? Because he once was a poor sport? Because he’s not as up to speed as the other players? Because he doesn’t want to talk to the media? Who cares? If this same extreme spotlight was put on the other players wouldn’t we find the same things in certain instances? Not everyone can be who you want them to be 24/7.

Without question, the Jets are known to be in the media. But Holmes is so last season. Let’s focus on the positive things that the Jets have going for them right now. Let’s focus on the constructive things that are coming out of practice and let’s look optimistically toward next season. Rex; Super Bowl?
