Paul VI celebrated its homecoming in style by using an explosive second half to pull away from Northern Virginia rival Bishop Ireton, 41-13.
Junior running back Jamon Cofield led the charge with 120 rushing yards and three touchdowns. But the hero of the day for the Panthers was sophomore defensive end Spencer Hayes, who made the play of the night. With Ireton driving and trying to climb back into the game early in the third quarter, Hayes intercepted the ball and raced 95 yards for a touchdown to help Paul VI seize the momentum and slam the door shut on Ireton.
