2012 State OF Maryland Best Football Players
CONSENSUS TOP OVERALL PLAYER
Stefon Diggs, 6-foot, 185, Good Counsel:
MdHigh Position Rank: No. 1 WR
Rivals Position Rank:: No. 1 WR in Maryland; No. 2 WR in U.S.A.
Rivals Overall Rank:: No. 1 player in Maryland; No. 8 player in U.S.A.
Rivals Rating: 5 stars; 6.1 rating (franchise player)
Recruiting Status: Currently holds over 40 verbal offers
MdHigh Evaluation: Rivals 5-Star prospect. Has the uncanny ability to gain separation from any coverage: man, press, zone, blanket -- you name it. Easily gets off the line versus press with an array of moves. Has soft and dependable hands; can make any catch look easy. Runs a 4.4 40-yard dash and has the moves to out-fox defenders in the open field. Shows great physicality and tremendous body control. Isn't afraid to go up in traffic. Competitiveness is his best attribute. Must add size and work on route running.
Rivals Evaluation: "Diggs is DeSean Jackson. He's very explosive and a dynamic playmaker who can be a slot guy or line up on the outside. He's very good against press coverage. Has great hands, great speed and can create separation from corners. Also, Diggs seems to get better in key game situations. When the game's on the line and you need a big play, he comes up with it. The one thing he needs to work on is getting bigger. When he gets to college, he's not going to have as easy of a time handling press coverage unless he gets bigger and stronger." - Mike Farrell, Rivals.com Recruiting Analyst

Greyhound alum its funny you say Darby is being exposed at this event because from what I see that simply is not true!! I dont know how Darby did on Saturday but he was balling Sunday. Hardly what I would call exposed. There is no way Midwest pulls off that upset of Southeast without Darby and if Darby didnt get in that collision during that game who knows what might have happened in the championship game. 247sports had Darby as one of the top 2 corners in the entire event. He is EASILY one of the top 100 prospects in the country. Dont know why you hate the kid so much...
BTW Cyrus is waaaay underrated. One of the top overall players there. Kid is a flat out beast...

I was just going off of the twitter updates I was getting from the event. From what I got, Darby was a beast against the undefeated southeast team and only got beat once the entire match. Apparently he suffered a leg injury in a nasty collision with the Agholor kid from Florida but tried to tough it out. He was not 100% in the championship game and the southwest team was picking on him early but after he got benched and iced his knee, he came back and was in shutdown mode.
For what its worth, CBSSports also had Darby as the top cornerback of the event.
And I dont care what anyone says Darby's potential is through the roof. From what I have seen from him on film he could not have been even close to the quickest player at the event, but I heard his straight line speed was unmatched and when he wasnt banged up most times he made up for his lack of quickness with his closing speed. Very few will be able to beat the kid deep because once he gets to turn and run no one can get behind him. He will be playing safety instead of corner for Potomac this year where he will get to roam the field and utilize his speed better. I personally think he projects better as a safety in college anyway...
Heard Cyrus Jones got a little banged up but that it wasnt serious.
