Redskins Draft SECOND Top Rated Qb....
Cousins from Michigan State. What does this mean? Is there any logic to this? For all of the publicity about RGIII now the Redskins have gone out and drafted a SECOND top rated qb?
I really believe this represents either:
1. A strategy to trade Cousins or
2. A schism between Snyder (who must have wanted RGIII for his marketing value) and Shanahan. I am being serious in this last statement: what possible reason can there be for using a draft pick for a SECOND qb?\
I also believe this sends a message to RGIII although, to be honest, I am not quite sure what the message is. Of course with these two drafts I'm not so sure that the Redskins know what the message is either. Or what it should be.

first of all cousins was expected to be taken two rounds earlier so it's not like they reached for the guy. that said, i'd say taking a QB in the 6th and taking one who does not have the potential to be an NFL starter (which cousins does) would have been less puzzling.
shanahan and allen must really expect cousins to take off and took him as a ploy to get trade value down the road. If griffin goes down for a few games and cousins comes in and shines thats a 2nd/3rd rounder right there. and in the meantime you have a very solid backup.
definitely would've liked an O lineman here then a kellen moore or an obvious backup QB later in the draft.

I wonder what Cousins is thinking? Plays his heart out at Michigan State and expects to go in one of the higher rounds perhaps as a possible franchise qb? And, the Redskins draft him behind RGIII? This doesn't give him a lot of leverage for negotiating a contract nor does it give him a secure start to his possible NFL career.
I can imagine if I was him I would be sitting somewhere with a glass of wine wondering what I did to deserve this?
For all of the needs this team has, to draft a second qb is just ludicrous. I am being serious: I wonder if Snyder and Shanahan had a disagreement and this is one of their statement?
I really hope this is a strategy to trade him. Somewhere he has a real opportunity to prove himself. D. C. is not going to be it.

Wait a minute!!! Eureka!!! I just realized the strategy: the Redskins will TRADE RGIII to the Broncos for Peyton Manning who they wanted all along. Then they'll start Manning for two or three years while Cousins is groomed and tutored.
Simple. Why didn't I realize this before? Snyder had no intention of giving up on Peyton.
Of course.
(The interesting part is that this is not such a bad strategy at all...)(Of course maybe the Broncos wanted RGIII all along, couldn't trade up for him and this is their way of getting him... Hmm...what IS the relationship between Shanahan and the Broncos?)
Worst part: I think this is a very real possibility!

http://www.freep.com/article/20120427/SPORTS07/204270411/michigan-state-kirk-cousins-nfl-draft?odyssey=obinsite From the Detroit Free Press:
"Cousins, who said he would watch the draft tonight with his family in Holland, would welcome a chance to learn the NFL game under new Denver starter Peyton Manning.
"Certainly being his backup would have its challenges at times, because I know he is a demanding person and that's part of the reason he's so successful. But I think some of the things I'd learn would be invaluable," Cousins said."
Well! Cousins was just confused about which city he would be Peyton's backup in.
