Congratulations to Katie Ledecky (Stone Ridge class of 2015) on winning Gold at the women's 800m freestyle today.  This makes me wonder, has any other WCAC athlete won an Olympic Gold medal before?  I would think so, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.  Can anyone out there help me think of another?

They are in the ISL (Independent School League), smaller school only about 300 girls in 9-12.  Imagine being a high school swimmer lining up at a meet against her next year.  My daughter is a classmate of hers, very sweet but focused person.  Quite an accomplishment, but she worked hard for it...

I think the only thing that may be more intimidating would be if you lived in Colorado and competed against Regis Jesuit and had to swim against Missy Franklin next year - good grief.

Jack Conger of Good Counsel -- a rising senior -- and 3-tiime Washington Post Swimmer of The Year, finished 5th in Olympic Trials at 200 back, and 8th in the 100 Back last month. Expect to see him in Rio in '16.

DeMatha has three alumni that have received Olympic gold medals: Adrian Dantley, Kenny Carr, and Derrick Mills.
