I guess unlike basketball, the rest of the WCAC isn't invited to participate in the crowning of the DC City Title that is being attempted here in football?
No mention of my Stags having an eligible slot. No chance of Virginia WCAC schools (Even Ireton or Paul VI) for participation either, I suppose?
My guess is that this sham gets called out for what it is, but if it goes down more power to them.
Everybody knows what's up because WCAC football is nationally ranked, and has been for quite some time now.
Good Counsel is where everybody with some sense is looking these days, and in recent years before them the best football was still in Maryland.

Ireton and PVI are not WCAC football members.
Lastly, I hate to be a pessimist....but this plan is AWFUL.
Eastern as a duplicate location.....C'mon dude. Turkey Bowl would have just been played there....and WCAC teams would be coming off of a game at NAVY.....at least try and get Catholic, Georgetown, or Howard....or RFK to make it more appealing.....

PBJ, that was the first, of among many questions I have about this sham. The fact that Clark Ray states that non DCIAA particpants have to adhere to DCIAA standards is laughable. What standards? Joke elibility requirements? Extra years of eligibility being granted? indiscriminant recruiting solely for athletic purposes? Say what you will about WCAC recruiting, at least the kids that get recruited to play sports at those schools at least can get a good education. The same cannot be said for DCIAA athletes who go out of boundary or to PCS to play sports.
And I love the "Division Two" Playoffs that Clark Ray threw out there as well. Way to reward mediocrity.
I honestly hope that ABC, Gonzaga, STA, SJC and all the other DC schools that arent DCPCS or in the DCIAA dont give this postseason plan any legitimacy by opting in to it.

@DiCooper
You missed what they are trying to do, its only for schools that are actually in DC

Well conventional wisdom says that the greater metropolitan area is a better pool for most sports on a national level rather than just confining what will amount to a "City Title" for schools only in DC.
I respect DC Football, but it isn't ever going to be a big enough pool to stand on its own nationally.
By including MD and VA it could eventually raise the profile of DC metroplitan area football to the likes of TX, FL, PA and OH. (And I also mean to say that MD and or VA couldn't do that on their own either.) Sometimes you have to take advantage of the geography.
It has worked out tremendously for baskeball, so why not football?
A rising tide lifts all boats.

This is just my opinion but I doubt Gonzaga would participate in this , the season is long as it is ,basketball will be starting and Gonzaga will be having exams in a couple weeks after this proposed championship which is not really a championship .The season is long enough , these are stilll STUDENT/ athletes . I am sure the WCAC schools are not going to have 5 year players as it s against their league rules ,so why would you play schools with 5 year players.

a44thomas, the reason no one talks about that is because the financial burden falls squarely on the family that decides to do that. I still think its a bs move, but hey, they are paying, they can decide what to do. The difference is that I, as a DC taxpayer, would rather see my money going to the improvement of city schools rather than useless 5th years for kids to play sports. In reality, if you can't make it through hs in four years, you have no buisness going to college, regardless of athletic ability. more importantly, if you are taking a 5th year of school solely to play sprts in college, you are missing the point of both athletics and education, and you too, do not deserve to play in college.

Thomas, you are 100% wrong. It is about the money on this one particular portion of the issue. DC spends more money per student than any other school district in the nation. Why would I want to pay taxes for a kid to spend another year in a school that will never prepare him or her for college just to watch them get mediocre coaching at mediocre facilities while at the same time getting a mediocre education and to likely not get recruited to play anywhere? And, why would I want to pay for a kid underprepared for college get a fifth year of a joke education just to be prop 48'd and never qualify even if they were lucky enough to get a D1 school to look at them? Btw, DCIAA athletes have the highest rates of non-prop 48 qualifiers in the nation. A better use of my money would likely to be as a replacement for toilet paper.
Sidebar: Thomas, you likely would have done well by being kept back a year. "I don't hear any body talking about the kids that are keep back by there parents in middle school that end up at the WCAC schools, so who is really cheating. Fifth year players you got a nerve." This post you put up is so cluttered with grammar errors, horrible colloquialisms, and misused words that you should not be the standard bearer for anything. Rather, you are clearly the poster boy for the need for better language arts teachers in DCPS classrooms. Hopefully Clark Ray sees your posts, realizes that his efforts would be better served actually getting DCIAA students matriculate at a rate better than 10%, and gets his head out of his rear. If that is the result, well done friend.
