Landon Students to Bullis? - 8/11/2012 5:11:16 PM

You didn't hear this from me.

The headmaster/administration at Landon is so terrible that students are leaving in droves. As many as a dozen kids/athletes/scholars will be transfering from Landon to Bullis for the upcoming school year.

Bullis is now the elite athletic program in the IAC. Never thought that would happen.

@DeepThroat

 The Landon Students that went to Bullis..were freshmen and that was simply because of for various they were angry with the school.. Bullis still doesnt have the upper edge against Landon in football this year. Look for landon to utilize theyre variety of playmakers

This form is a joke, and the people who have posted have no idea what they are talkinga about. So please lets leave this touchy subject alone out of respect for the students involved

@MonsterMilk

This forum is not a JOKE!!!  Their are some serious issues that are going on at Landon and it needs to be addressed!!!  Do I know what the issue is? Yes, and it has been going on for quite some time now. By the way, it has not been all freshmans that have been leaving the school.

First, Landon just won the Founders Cup. Second, for the coming year there have been many transfers TO Landon. The application level is very stong.

It kills me how people claim to know all of the "issues" but do not say what they are......yet they post while talking around the "issues".  If they are so sensitive then keep the posts to yourself, if not, then state what they are without naming kids and getting too specific.  I guess it makes folks feel as though they have some sort of power to say they are in the know but not telling?

@smdeagles

If there are legitimate reasons why kids (athletes in particular) are leaving Landon then state them.  If true then it gives information to prospective students and parents and forces Landon to address the issues....if legitimate. In another post the Diggs family is fair game to all sorts of comments but Landon and it's kids are somehow off limits?  Why is that?  I can think of some reasons. IMO.....Kids are off limits but if something is going on systemically at Landon, let's hear it.

Long story short...

Bullis is on the rise but will soon fall. Their recent methods of recruiting simply wont fly in the IAC. It's only a matter of time before the Potomac parents complain on their childs behalf.

First of all the kids didn't leave because they were offered scholarships, most of the IAC schools have similar financial aid packages.  The root of the issue was mentioned in an earlier post regarding politics at Landon.  The best athletes are simply not given and opportunity to shine and excel in order to go to the next level.  Landon prides itself on lacrosse and fails to help kids go to college for any other sport and thats a fact.  They dont attend any 7on7s, take players to combines, or anything.  Other teams in other leagues goal is to get their student athletes football scholarships and Landon has no desire to do so.  So why do you expect those freshmen athletes you want to point out to stay when they are some of the best in the whole DC area.

 I completely agree with you regarding the athletes simply not given a chance. It's been going on for years, im sure even this season some players on there bench will be better than the players that are playing on the field. The article read LANON STUDENTS TO BULLIS, and a percentage of Landon's students have gone there, ill take a wild guess and say some players on their upcoming season's roster have either contacted Bullis, or will contact them after they lose yet another IAC championship. Simply put Bullis doesnt "BS" they want to win, for those who want to live in the past and claim Landon as the god of the IAC, your sadly mistaken theyll continue to lose, until they get rid of all the mess that goes on there.

Micah Keels will never play division one football.

Really not that many left when you look at it. Landon owns the IAC

Wow that's a lot of hate directed at one player. I wonder if you even play varsity football must be one of the "sweet" laxers.  Ask your coaches if they think he or any of the players that left can play D1 and you will probaly figure out why this is even a discussion.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  But you tried to name guys that Keels is clearly better than at the same stage.  I don't think any of those players started varsity as a sophomore but you are right to an extent because he is a probaly a better cornerback than wide receiver honestly and he has something they don't teach at Landon in football which is technique.

@pmaclax

I think this is a funny post, but I just dont understand why someone would throw Micah Keels under the bus? It seems like the loser that is trying to throw Micah under the bus is  a guy that Micah does not give a damn about and mad that Micah is not trying to be cool with him or something. The clown from Landon does not realize that "Skills" wise Micah could have played Varsity last year if Landon did not have that rule of not playing Freshman on Varsity. Also he kisses behind Holland about how great of a guy and how great of a player he is, even though Micah is not trying to be your friend does not mean he is not a great player. Micah was a shutdown corner last year on JV, and was a good wide receiver. If he been following Micah growth he would have realized that Micah will be a starting receiver on Bullis this year who has more talent than Landon, and may could start at corner to. He would know that Micah is faster, stronger, taller, than he was last year. Is Micah a D1 receiver yes he is, does he want to be a D1 receiver no he wants to play just corner. So dont throw him under the bus "@PMACLAX" if you have a problem with Micah you can tell him how much he sucks as a receiver and try to guard him when Bullis and Landon play. After he run blocks you into Landon sideline, and than catches passes on you maybe you will respect him and star voicing your opinions face to face like a man instead of hiding behind the computer and your Lacrosse stick.

@Keels86

Amen ^

...and I went to landon.

Don't just get on this website and start throwing around names out of jealousy/hate/ whatever it may be. The kid did what was best for him, and its a horrible look for the entire school when kids start trying to be fortune tellers and posting what other peoples futures are going to be. Focus on your own.

Landon success used to be about pride in what we had, not hate in what others had. You sound basic. Thats prlly why the past 3 teams have been below average.

@Landon16

Do people ever consider that this could be about academics? Especially considering Landon is a difficult academic school, and Bullis has the infamous "public school you pay for" nickname. I'm not trying to demean Bullis, but it seems like people are going out of their way to find some reason to relate this to sports or contraversy.

So you are assuming academics is an issue for what reason? His brother actually attends an Ivy League School and he has been at Landon for years this is not even relevant.  You guys just dont understand what is going on its sad.

@dcswag46

@dcswag46... are you ignorant or just oblivious? Holland's brother is still a senior in high school and transferred to bullis as well for his own reasons. And the original guy who made this post is just an idiot. Only three people from landon went to Bullis, and one isn't even playing sports. Jonathan Holland, Micah Keels, and Adam Holland. One Landon kid went to Good Counsel which is understandable because he is a great O-linemen and is starting for Good Counsel. He didn't transfer because of controversy or anything of that nature but simply because Good Counsel is a football school. And a bunch are hockey players that went to go play hockey at boarding schools for the same reason Richie went to Good Counsel. Im sad to say but the 3 who went to bullis were because of a controversy.

11 kids switched this year from Landon to Bullis. 5 sophomores, not just Micah and Jon. Get your facts straight.

@scrubs14

That old Landon saying about Bullis being the "public school you pay for" just doesn't work any more.  Basing your argument on facts, you may wish to compare the list of universities being attended by graduating students from both institutions.  If you were to do that, you would see that both schools are routinely sending students to some of the most well respected and selective universities in the country.  That old saying drips of sarcasm, condesention and ignorance.

Getting back to the facts regarding the original intent of this post, I believe that the offical number of Landon to Bullis transfers for the 2012-2013 school year is just shy of 30; most of which are academic transfers.

By way of explanation, please note that this post is written from the perspective of a Bullis parent that has sent all of my childrent to Bullis.  All of my children received excellent preparation for college, attended the most selective of universities, and now are productive and responsible citizens.

I thought the new AD (in from St Stephens) was a good guy. I'm surprised (but not shocked).
