It comes as no surprise that AHSAA officials are acting cautiously due to the recent history of bad weather in the Birmingham area. The Alabama High School Athletic Association has postponed the final 48 basketball tournament being held at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center. Severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches are currently plaguing the area and are said to continue to do so throughout the night.
The 3A girl’s title will be made up tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. and the 3A boy’s title game will be played with tipoff set for 10:15 a.m. pushing back the start times for the remaining games approximately an hour. The Hazel Green boy’s team will play tomorrow although its hometown was hit by a tornado earlier today.
