Player of the Week: Nigel Beckford, Episcopal

Beckford transferred to Episcopal after spending last season at Notre Dame Catholic School in Fairfield, Connecticut. After Saturday’s performance, it looks like Episcopal has a start in the making. Beckford carried the ball 20 times for 329 yards and five touchdowns in a route over Bishop Ireton. Beckford looks like the most explosive running back to come out of Episcopal since Tim Hightower.

Team of the Week: Gonzaga

When you go a decade without beating one team, it’s usually a pretty big deal when the losing streak ends. Gonzaga jumped out to an early lead on Good Counsel and held on to win, 30-20. The victory shakes things up in a conference that has been very one-sided in recent years. Look for the WCAC postseason to be the most competitive we’ve seen since the turn of the century.
