MATER DEI VS. ST. JOHN'S: 8:30 p.m. (EST) Friday, ESPNU

Mater Dei, led by recent Alabama commit quarterback Bryce Young (he flipped his choice from USC on Sunday), has outscored opponents 210-58 so a match-up with a three-loss team would seem a mismatch.

That's not the case as St. John's — which has the nation's toughest schedule — has lost all three competitive games to Top 25 squads, two that were ranked in the Top 5.

The Cadets are led by 5-star linebacker and Georgia commit Mekhail Sherman (6-3, 235) along with the potent passing combination of quarterback Sol-Jay Maiava (6-0, 190) to Rakim Jarrett (6-0, 210), a 5-star receiver headed to LSU.

Young, a 5-11, 185-pound senior rated the No. 1 dual threat quarterback in the country, has been dynamic in the early going by accounting for more than 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns against one interception.

He ran for four touchdowns in a 34-18 win over then second-ranked St. Frances Academy (Baltimore), and passed for a school record 538 yards in a 71-31 win at Arizona power Centennial (Peoria).

Other top players for the Monarchs are lineman Myles Murao (6-2, 310), linebacker Raesjon Davis (6-1, 210), cornerback Jaylin Davies (5-11, 165) and receiver Kody Epps (5-10.5, 170).
